Tenor saxophone maverick Tim Lin is proof that the younger jazz cats on the scene today are fully able to fill the shoes of the greats that came before them. “ Tim Lin’s debut album is a knockout. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Lin now resides in New York City where he is putting the finishing touches on honing his craft and taking his place in Modern Jazz history. His firm BeBop roots have already stacked him performance credits with Kenny Burrell, Russell Ferrante, Billy Drummond, Jeb Patton, Terri-Lynne Carrington, Ralph Moore and Tootie Heath. Tim's mentorships by several of the greatest tenor saxophonists in jazz today, Bob Shepherd, Bob Mintzer, Larry Schneider and Jerry Bergonzi has culminated in the release of his second album as a leader featuring Andy LaVerne, Jay Anderson and Billy Drummond, which will be celebrated at Club Legato on June 15th. The rhythm section for that evening will be Bob Fox on piano, Cyrus Campbell on bass, and John Trentacosta on drums. So come on out and be a part of the future of jazz.
