Bevan Manson is a pianist, composer and arranger, equally versed in classical and jazz. He is the recipient of multiple composing and arranging commissions and draws upon his prolific dual career in jazz and classical music. He has written string arrangements for jazz saxophonist Gary Smulyan and most recently for Manhattan Transfer’s Cheryl Bentyne’s new album. He has played around the world with jazz orchestras and in groups led by George Garzone, Jimmy Guiffre, Bob Brookmeyer, Cecil McBee, and Howard McGhee.
A recent part time addition to the Northern New Mexico jazz scene, Bevan continues to spend half his time in Los Angeles working on various recording projects while at the same time bringing to our jazz community a wealth of experience. Undertaking this project is a heavy lift for any master jazz pianist, and out of reach for most, but I cannot think of anyone more suited to play the music of Bill Evans than Bevan Manson. So come out to UNIT B by Chocolate Maven and experience what will be a musical tribute you will long remember, while enjoying the beautiful setting, great food, and exceptional drinks at Santa Fe’s newest supper club in mid-town. Rounding out the trio will be Terry Burns – bass and John Trentacosta – drums.
