New York’s Finest come to Santa Fe
Highly acclaimed Jazz bassist extraordinaire Marcos Varela has been touring all over the world, composing and leading his own band since his arrival on the New York Jazz scene almost twenty years ago. Playing with the likes of George Cables, Eddie Henderson, Sullivan Fourtner, Ingrid Jensen, Billy Hart, Jason Moran, Geri Allen and The Mingus Big Band, Varela has become a well established figure on the New York Jazz Scene. He has received the 2021 & 2024 South Arts “Jazz Road” Grant, the Mid-Atlantic Arts USAI Grant Award and the YoungArts and Betty Carter Ahead fellowships.
His Origin Records debut album “San Ygnacio” received acclaim in DownBeat, NPR, Bass Player Magazine and JazzTimes, with liner note contributions from world renown bassist Ron Carter calling him “Top Notch” …… “a truly unique musician, Mr. Varela belongs in the top bass players in the industry”.
From international critics to legendary peers, the consensus is clear: Marcos Varela is a singular voice in contemporary jazz, and his trajectory continues to rise.
Joining the trio will be Emilio Modeste on saxophones and Michael Ode on Drums.

*VIP Tickets provide access to a reserved seating area on a raised platform with an unblocked view of the stage. This section is slightly removed from the main crowd, offering a more private and comfortable experience. VIP seating is very limited — only a few seats are available.
Unit B is a dinner-theater style dining venue featuring high caliber live performances. The restaurant typically opens for dinner, wine and craft cocktails at 5:30pm. Food and drinks will be available until the kitchen closes approximately 1 – 2 hours after the show starts.
We will verify your ticket purchase by name when you arrive. There is no need to print tickets in advance. Your show ticket entitles you to a seat in the space, which will be allotted on a first-come first-served basis.
DINNER RESERVATIONS: To ensure that Unit B is able to accommodate your whole party together, or to request a specific seating location, please make a table reservation in addition to your ticket purchase. To make a reservation, please fill out this form.
Please note that while Unit B does their best to accommodate specific seating requests, depending on the size of your party and the order in which your reservation is received, they may not always be able to do so. For groups of 5 or more, a table reservation is required in order to ensure you will sit together. Please note you may be seated at a table with an unrelated party.
