For more than 25 years, Doug Lawrence has thrilled audiences worldwide with the Count Basie Orchestra. His big bold sound is reminiscent of Gene Ammons and Dexter Gordon, while at the same time having the sensitivity of Stan Getz and Paul Desmond. A multi Grammy Award winner, Doug has garnered a reputation as “One of the best in Jazz today.” It’s no wonder his playing has been featured with Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Sarah Vaughn, Nancy Wilson, Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Dizzy Gillespie, Benny Goodman, Wild Bill Davis, and many more. He has performed in major concert halls and jazz clubs throughout the world and played for six presidents.

“There is nothing forced about Doug’s playing. He is, as they say, the real thing.”Dan Morgenstern, Editor DOWNBEAT

“Doug Lawrence is a natural, like Lester Young.” – Buck Clayton, Jazz Legend, New York Times

With a list of credits too numerous to mention, the only way to appreciate this jazz master’s mega talent is to come out and hear it. As someone very wise once said, “let the music speak for itself”.

Doug Lawrence will appear in concert at Santa Fe’s newest Supper Club, UNIT B, along with Bob Fox – Piano, Terry Burns – Bass, and John Trentacosta – Drums.
