Living in New York for more than twenty years, Greg Ruggiero has made his mark as a consummate jazz artist, playing and recording with many of New York’s Finest. He can be heard almost every night of the week in clubs throughout the city, including Dizzy’s Coca Cola, Birdland, Smalls, Mezzrow and The Jazz Gallery.
Equally versed in many jazz genres, Greg has especially become known in New York circles as the go to guitarist for straight down the middle standards, an art form of the music that is becoming harder to find in these modern times of ever changing musical styles.
Born and raised in Albuquerque, Greg Ruggiero is a testament to the richness of the Outpost’s jazz education program which has helped launch the careers of many talented young artists over the years. Greg’s return to his hometown is always a thrill for New Mexico jazz audiences and a great opportunity for SFMC to present this seasoned professional in an intimate jazz setting. So come on out and give your ears the perfect recovery antidote to a bombastic fourth of July celebration, with the soul soothing sounds of jazz, straight down the middle……no filters.
